Welcome to The Red Door

Welcome,

I am new to writing digitally. Like most people, I just write my own diary. Recently, a good friend suggested that I write online instead. So, as per the name of my blog, I'll be writing mostly about food I have tasted and restaurants/cafes/diners I have visited. In addition to those, I'll be writing about people, manners, human interactions with others - mostly from my own experience and those I have witnessed directly. Less assured, things will only be written when it has happened, real-life events with facts. Since I'm no journalist, there will be no editting of what I write. I take all opinions and feedbacks that may come my way.
Ok. Lets start with the place I've recently visited. Last weekend, I was taken to The Red Door in Surry Hills. Being a foodie, I read reviews and comments about the place and read the menu before my visit. The most common thing I read about The Red Door is the iconic entrance, you guessed it - a red door and that behind it is a dark room. That I can say is completely true. The place is dark. Before I continue, I need to mention that the place also have a restaurant upstairs called Foveaux. Don't confuse this review of the bar with the restaurant.
So, when I stepped into the bar at about 7.45 pm I felt cosy. It has glamour setting with dark coloured leather lounges and fancy chairs and tables. It's full of red decorations, romantic. Since it was pretty quite still, you can clearly see right to the bar at the end of the room. The Red Door has a good list  of cocktails, wines, and beers although it's not a big list. Since I couldn't find the creamy thick cocktail I was after at the time, I asked the young cute bartender with a sexy european accent if he could make me one. While I was making small talk with the guy I was with, I was also paying attention to the bartender making my surprise drink. You can tell he's skillful. He continuously gathering and mixing ingredients without hesitation. Then 2 minutes later, I got my creamy strawberry cocktail with perfect balance of sweet and sour. Most creamy cocktails can be too milky and sweet. This one was fresh, light, and tasty.
I ended up having 2 of those while my date was downing his beers. Just in case you're wondering about my date... He's a blonde Irish with a good body and dreamy accent. He's fun, successful, but crude. Sounds exactly like someone I'd be attracted to until I found out very recently that he's not much of a gentleman. Oh well, nice (free) cocktails and great kissing session made quite a decent evening... My suggestion, try the Red Door if you want a cosy romantic evening.
